    Christmas Photos

    Dear Parents & Carers

Due to the great success that we had last year with the Christmas photos, we will be doing the same again this year.

On Tuesday 29th November, children can come to school in their Christmas clothes/jumpers/dresses for the day and have their photos taken next to our Christmas Tree and against a festive background. We will take individual photos and sibling groups. These make lovely Christmas gifts for you to send to family and friends.

Parents will have the opportunity to order copies of the photos in a choice of sizes to get in time for Christmas.

We will still be having the usual Christmas Jumper Day on 8th December, however, we are doing the extra day on the 29th November to allow us plenty of time to get the photos ordered.

Prices will range from 50p – £2.50 per photo depending on size, more details will follow on the order form.

A special email address has been set up specifically for Christmas photo enquiries and orders.

If you would like your child/ren to have their Christmas photo taken please email photos@thornhillprimary.co.uk by Friday 25th November.

    Kind regards

    Mr Gunning & Miss Gow

  • Letter from The Linmere Team

    Published 21/11/22

    Dear Parents and carers

You will be aware that the development of Linmere is currently being delivered to the north of Thornhill Primary School.

Silver Birch Avenue, which links Sundon Road to the school, will become a key access point for the school. We have worked closely with Central Bedfordshire Council and Thornhill Primary School to ensure that the designs for the school and for Linmere are fully coordinated, and that the school becomes a link between the new development and Houghton Regis.

However, Silver Birch Avenue is currently in continual use by heavy construction traffic, and as such we have a Health and Safety obligation to minimise non-essential traffic.

For these reasons it has been agreed with Thornhill Primary School and Central Bedfordshire Council that pupils would not be able to access Thornhill Primary School from Silver Birch Avenue until September 2023.

We do though understand the inconvenience this may cause to those living nearby, and we will therefore allow pupils travelling to Thornhill school on foot or by bicycle to use the route shown in green below.

Whilst we would prefer not to have to restrict access, for Health & Safety reasons drop-offs by car anywhere along Silver Birch Avenue or elsewhere within the development will not be allowed until September 2023.

For the sake of everyone’s safety we cannot compromise on this, and if not adhered to we will unfortunately have to restrict access for all.

    Many thanks for your understanding

    The Linmere Team

  • Parking on Silver Birch Avenue

    Published 04/11/22

Recently, there have been a number of parents parking on Silver Birch Avenue to drop off or collect children from school. As we have said before, this is absolutely not allowed.

We have just been in a meeting with the land developer who has explained that there are serious health and safety risks associated with parking on Silver Birch Avenue and that this must not continue.

Access to the school from the Silver Birch Avenue site is currently only for residents of the Linmere development via the pedestrian footpath.

Unfortunately, we have been informed that if parents continue to park on Silver Birch Avenue, the road will be closed to all traffic and there will be no access to the school from the Silver Birch site at all.

We ask that all parents take this warning seriously so as not to affect the day to day running of the school.
