Chocolate Spread

Recently, we have had to talk to a number of parents about providing sandwiches with chocolate spread in packed lunch boxes.

Unfortunately, some chocolate spreads contain nuts or have traces of nuts in them. This means that we really can't allow them in school. We have a number of children with severe nut allergies which can be triggered by smelling nuts from a distance or coming into contact with someone who has recently eaten nuts.

The school has a strict 'no nut' policy which is mentioned in each of our newsletters. We must ask that all parents follow this rule for the safety of children in school.

We understand that some chocolate spreads do not contain nuts or traces of nuts. However, we can't possibly tell which spread is in a sandwich that has been provided from home and so must insist on no chocolate spreads at all.

Thanks for your co-operation.
